Abel Bourbois » Hello Huskies!

Hello Huskies!

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Staff,

Greetings! My name is Abel Bourbois, and I am both deeply humbled and honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Monterey Highlands School, where Husky Heroes L.E.A.D!

In 23-24, I will be starting my 21st year in education, all of which have been in the Alhambra Unified School District.  I started my career on an emergency credential as a high school math teacher at Alhambra HS in 2003. Since then, I have been a department chair, teacher specialist, administrative intern, and tobacco prevention specialist.  I also taught math in an alternative education setting during Distance Learning before becoming the Assistant Principal at Monterey Highlands in 2021.

At Monterey Highlands School, I am committed to upholding our school's tradition of excellence while embracing innovation and adaptability. I believe that every child is unique, possessing distinct talents and abilities that deserve to be nurtured. As a collaborative and student-centered leader, my foremost goal is to create a safe, clean, inclusive, and inspiring space where each student can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

In partnership with our exceptional team of educators and staff, I am dedicated to providing a well-rounded education that not only focuses on academic achievements but also instills a love for learning, critical thinking skills, and strong values.

My door is always open, and I eagerly look forward to meeting each one of you. Your perspectives, insights, and feedback are critical to me as we work together to deliver the best educational outcomes for our students. I look forward to our collaboration and partnership at Monterey Highlands School.

I wish everyone at Husky Nation an amazing 23-24 school year!!

Sincerely,

Mr. Abel Bourbois (aka Mr. B)
