Parent's Right to Know
California's plan to implement ESEA Title II, Part A regulations/requirements to prepare, train, and recruit qualified teachers and principals includes informing parents of students taught by a certificated staff member who does not meet state certification or license requirements for 4 or more weeks. Parents must be notified in writing after the 20th day of instruction. ESSA also allows for parents and/or guardians of students to request information regarding the qualifications of their child’s teacher(s).
