Update on Water Main

March 1, 2024 @ 4:00pm

Dear Monterey Highlands Parents and Guardians,

We are providing you an update on the Water Main Breakage at Monterey Highlands.   We are grateful to the City of Monterey Park (Mayor Thomas Wong and City Manager Inez Alvarez) for the regular communication and support of our school community.  The Water Department and their contractors worked relentlessly to address this issue.

Updated Information (at the time of this email)

    • Pat Carroll Way is open at both ends
    • Water flow has been restored to the school campus
    • AUSD Facilities staff have inspected the school campus and found no issues with plumbing or leaks
    • Spring Photos for Grades 4-7th have been rescheduled to Friday, 3/8/24
    • AUSD will apply for a waiver from the CA Department of Education so that lost instructional time does not impact attendance or school funding.  We will NOT have to make up this day in the summer.
    • AUSD Technology Services will provide guidance to enroll families in a text messaging feature in Blackboard.  Stay tuned for more information on how to opt-in.  Only about 50% of our families are capable of receiving these text messages at this time.
    • We currently anticipate all school operations will resume on Monday, 3/4/24.  A Blackboard message/robocall/text blast will be sent out at 7am Monday morning to confirm this information.

We’re grateful for your partnership.  Please stay tuned for more updates.
