Dear Monterey Highlands Parents and Guardians,
We are providing you an update on the Water Main Breakage at Monterey Highlands. We are grateful to the City of Monterey Park (Mayor Thomas Wong and City Manager Inez Alvarez) for regular communication and support of our school community.
Please stay clear of the school at this time. Pat Carroll Way is closed at both ends. Please do not call the school office. Email Mr. Bourbois ([email protected]) and Mrs. Saldivar ([email protected]) if you have any questions.
School Operations
All school operations are suspended today due to the lack of running water to the school. Here’s a summary of impacts to school programs:

- Apollo Afterschool and Adventures Afterschool Care are cancelled
- Options Enhanced Learning Care is closed
- Options State Preschool is closed
- Grades 4-7 Spring Photos will be rescheduled
- Any parent meetings will be rescheduled, we apologize for the inconvenience
- Alhambra HS Showcase will continue but parents will need to transport students and supervise them on site
- Math Field Day at MKHS on 3/2 will still be held, as scheduled
- National History Day at SGHS on 3/2 will still be held, as scheduled
Continuity of Instruction
Certificated staff (TK-8th) will work to prepare an instructional activity and post that for students/families on their digital platforms (SeeSaw, Google Classroo, Dojo, etc…) sometime today or this weekend. Please be patient as many staff members are parents and have had to make last-minute child-care arrangements for their own children. Thank you for your understanding.
Water Main Repairs
As of 9am this morning, contractors for the City were on-site making emergency repairs. As they repressurize the line, staff from Alhambra USD Facilities will be on campus to inspect all school plumbing and ensure that our water lines are in working order and safe for reopening school on Monday 3/4/24.
Communication
This is a reminder that all important school information is communicated via the Blackboard Connect e-mail platform. Please make sure your e-mail addresses are current and that you are able to receive messages. Please make sure Blackboard messages are not going into your spam folder. We also encourage you to check AUSD Social Media (Facebook and Instagram), MH PTA Social Media as well as the Monterey Highlands website for the latest updates.
